Welcome to Art 107: Design and Color! My name is Brother Bryce Lowry and I'll be your teacher this semester (Winter, 2016).
My Background:
My Background:
I was born in Utah, and moved to Rexburg Idaho when I was twelve years old. I have always wanted to be an artist, and in Rexburg I made friends with similar interests. For the rest of my growing-up years, I couldn't really imagine being anything but an artist.
I served a mission in Anaheim, California, where I spent six months of my mission living across the street from Disneyland.
When I got home, I dived into my art studies and took this very class. It changed my life forever! There is infinite information on color and design, and it is a lifelong journey. A joyous one, too.

I graduated from BYU-Idaho with a BFA in Illustration. Since then I have worked on book illustrations and art for a couple video games.
Most importantly, I have a beautiful family. My lovely wife is also an illustrator, and we have a 3-year-old daughter named Lorien (yes, that name is from LOTR) and a 1-year-old son named Peter (yes, that name is from the Bible).
I look forward to meeting you and joining you in your quests as artists.

Acquaintance and Inspiration:
For the sake of getting to know each other and inspire one another, I created a blog you can visit by clicking here. You can also find my office hours there.
On this blog I will post artwork I do during the semester, as well as artwork I find that is inspiring or makes great use of the principles we're covering in this class. You can also post artwork that inspires you or makes use of principles we cover. Feel free to post your own sketches and paintings too. Art is truly a collaborative process, even if you're not planning on working in a studio with a team. None of us would get to where we want to be without including our peers in constructive feedback. The greatest motivation I've received to keep trying is from other artists in my classes or elsewhere. That's what this blog is for.
And just as a side-note, some of your classmates at BYU-Idaho may become a permanent part of your art career network. So get to know each other! And keep in touch!
